Kingsbury Green
As part of a rear ground floor extension, this project explored multiple open-plan kitchen and living room layouts tailored to a client with a strong focus on family and hosting. Coming from a large family where weekly dinners and gatherings were central to life, the brief called for a highly functional and sociable space to accommodate regular use and group interaction.

We worked collaboratively with the clients, developing and refining design options that prioritised flow, flexibility, and togetherness. Two final layouts were presented, each testing different relationships between the kitchen, central island, dining, and lounge areas, with careful consideration given to movement, sightlines, and atmosphere.
The central kitchen island became the anchor of the space — serving as both a practical work surface and a communal hub for conversation and informal meals. Material selections and lighting strategies were proposed to enhance warmth and coherence across the open-plan layout.

This project demonstrates how thoughtful design, shaped through close dialogue with the client, can deliver a home that is not only well-planned, but also deeply responsive to the rituals of everyday life.
